General requirements for applicant
- A Masters or Bachelors (or equivalent) Chemical Engineering degree
- Preferably Chartered within a relevant institution
- A minimum of 5 years experience as a Process engineer working in a plant operations role. Experience working in both an operating environment and process design is desirable
- Process engineering knowledge of Air Separation, Gasification and/or Hydrogen Production
- Experience in troubleshooting plant operations, with excellent analytical skills and the ability to follow a logical work process to reach a solution. Experienced in Root Cause Analysis.
- Trained and experience in change management
- Experience working with plant control systems and advanced control systems for process optimisation.
- A good knowledge of plant and equipment design.
- Ideally the candidate will have experience of in-field commissioning activities, operation readiness Inspection and plant start up
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prioritise and adapt in a fast changing multitask environment.

Responsibility

Plant Operating Support
- Senior process engineer providing process support for Air Separation Unit (ASU), Auto Thermal Reformer (ATR) and Hydrogen technologies present on the facility reporting to the lead process engineer.
- Provide technical support to the operations team to ensure safe plant operation inline with the plant operating procedures
- Provide technical process input for troubleshooting production and process performance issues. Drives efficient resolution of process issues under the guidance of the senior process engineer.
- Initially the role will be involved in supporting commissioning activities to bring the new plants onstream and drive to nameplate before then providing process support for long term operation
- Provide process input for developing plant efficiency monitoring systems and reporting plant performance
- Identify deviations in plant performance, develop technical solution and drive to a timely closeout to minimise underperformance
- Provide process input and work closely with the controls and instrument team to develop and optimise plant control and advanced control systems which will provide stable operation whilst driving plants to their optimum position
- Responsibility for supporting non-standard process activities including start-ups/shutdowns.
- Provide process input to maintenance activities, identify process safety risks associated with the proposed works to enable and facilitate effective isolation and purging requirements of the process for maintenance.
- Identify opportunities for improving plant performance with respect to power saving, production capacity and plant reliability.
- Assess and quantify benefits of plant improvement to enable business case justification
- Develop knowledge of applicable standards, design tools and work process to ensure any modification are carried out inline with the correct engineering requirements
- Follow the management of change process to ensure any plant changes or modifications are completed to the correct technical requirements
- Work directly with other technical disciplines, controls, machinery, electrical, piping to produce technical complete solutions
- Produce PID changenotes and process specification including functional logic table, alarm and trip system, critical safety, equipment specifications
- Review technical documentation provided from external vendors or suppliers
